Watching the first two Terminator films

Recently I watched the first two Terminator films. I thought the second film(Terminator 2: Judgement Day) was more interesting and exciting.

I recognised quite a few iconic scenes in the first film but also found a scene in the second film Terminator 2: Judgement Day where the old Terminator walks towards a SWAT team deflecting bullets. I saw a similar scene in one of the Venom films(I forget which one though). So it felt a bit weird because I had never realised the Venom films were so heavily inspired by the first two Terminator films. And also in Venom 2: Let there be Carnage, Carnage is basically the newer Terminator(T1000).

My favourite bits of both the films has to be the beginning when the Terminators steal clothes from people. What I didn’t really like in Terminator 2: Judgement Day was that the new Terminator walked so slowly when he had a good chance to catch the Conners but ran the same speed of a car when he was chasing vehicles so it didn’t really make sense.

Terminator 2 is famous for its special effects too but the one I didn’t like that much was the moving liquid metal when he gets shot. It felt out of place but when he changed shapes was quite interesting. The special effects I was most impressed by was when John and Sarah Connor opened up the old Terminator while the Terminator explained how to open his head. There’s an upcoming new Terminator which is Terminator 7 and I might watch it just to see how different it is from the originals.

What is your favourite Terminator film and why?

Hunt For The Wilderpeople(2016)

I watched Hunt For The Wilderpeople(2016).

It’s a comedy adventure. The film is set in New Zealand and is about a foster kid called Ricky Baker who gets into trouble often and gets rejected by foster families. At the beginning of the film Paula Hall from the state services drives Ricky to a house on a little hill. Ricky’s new foster mother, Bella greets them but Ricky is unimpressed. He goes straight back to the car which is funny and sad at the same time.

Ricky is used to living in cities so feels a lot of freedom in the countryside. On Ricky’s 13th birthday Bella makes a happy birthday song while playing a toy piano which was very funny. Ricky gets a pet dog as a birthday present and names it Tupac.

Ricky tries to run away and burns a fake corpse of himself but manages to burn down an entire shed which was funny too. Hector finds Ricky in the morning and while they’re having an argument Hector trips on a tree root and twists his leg.

Hector makes a camp and rests for a few days. But then they start getting chased by the police and military because Hector is suspected of abusing Ricky. Ricky doesn’t want to go back to his jail-like life in an orphanage so Hector and Ricky go on the run.

The landscapes in the film are really beautiful and dream-like. I thought Ricky was a very funny boy and Hector was amazing at navigating in the wilderness. The actor for Hector was Sam Neill who was Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World films. Hunt for the Wilderpeople was a very chaotic funny film that made me want to go and explore in the New Zealand wilderness one day.

The film is based on a book called Wild Pork and Watercress by Barry Crump which I would like to read one day.

What are your favourite comedy or adventure films?

Top Gun: Maverick

Recently I watched the new film “Top Gun: Maverick”. I went to see it with my family and grand parents.

It was quite good and thrilling. There were a lot of expensive planes in the film. The American Air Force had a mission to blow up a uranium facility owned by a unknown enemy. Maverick got shot by a SAM and crashed into some snowy woods. He got shot by a helicopter but his friend destroyed the helicopter before it shot him. It was the last film without CG for the planes and aircraft.

I haven’t watched the first Top Gun film yet but I may watch it soon.
Have you seen them yet which one would you recommend?

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

On Friday I watched a film called Planes, Trains and Automobiles.  It’s a comedy film about two men called Neal and Del being forced to travel together.  It’s directed by John Hughes who also directed Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The men are very different but finally become friends. Neal is very short tempered and Del is very easy going. Del is very cheerful but Neal is quite cold and unfriendly.

I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone. Have you seen it? If you have seen it what was your favourite part?

My 5 favourite films

Here are 5 of my favourite films, not in order:
Aquaman
Stampede
Duel
Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Stand By Me

Aquaman:
This film is about a light-house keeper who falls in love with Atlanna, the queen of Atlantis. They have a son called Arthur but, the king of Atlantis comes and take Atlanna back to Atlantis because she had an arranged marriage with another person in Atlantis. When the king finds out that Atlanna married a human he is mad and executes her. The film from there is about Aquaman(Arthur) fighting with his brother to see who is the true king of Atlantis.

I like this film because the graphics are amazing and I really like the tridents.

Stampede:
Stampede is about an alien substance that turns animals into huge giants found in space by scientists. Dwayne Johnson is in this film he is an animal keeper and has a huge pet gorilla.

I like this film because it’s funny and scary.

Duel:
This film is about a fight between a person in an oil-tanker truck and a man driving through an American desert who keeps getting attacked by the truck driver. The truck is crashing in to him or driving super fast behind him.

I like this film because it’s weird, scary and thrilling

Project X:
This film is about a young man called Jimmy who gets a job in a Airforce testing laboratory.  He becomes friends with a chimpanzee and decides to rescue the chimpanzee from the lab.

It was an exciting film. I like the main actor, Matthew Broderick, he was in the film Ferris Bueller’s Day off and War Games.

Stand By Me:
This film is about 5 children going on a long journey along a train track to see a dead body so they pack there’re bags and go. From there it’s about the lives of the children and the small village they live in.

This was a sad, exciting film so I liked it.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Recently I went to see the Ghostbusters Afterlife film. I’ve watched Ghostbusters 1 and 2 but haven’t seen the Ghostbusters Reboot but might watch it soon.

It was my first time to see a film at the cinema for ages. The film is about a brother and sister going to live in a broken down house with a farm in Summerville. It was funny, scary and exciting. My favourite bit was when the brother and sister go on the Ghostbuster Cadillac and nearly catch Muncher(The iron eating ghost). They use Proton packs to stun Muncher then they try and catch it with a ghost trap.

Later they find Egon Spengler had been pushing back a demon called Gozar from coming out of a deep hole in Ivo Shandor’s mine in Summerville with 4 proton packs attached to the ceiling. The system automatically pushes the demons back for a while.

However in 2021 Gozer was planning to take over the world once again. Egon Spangler knew this so he built a ghost trap in an old farm. The trap was made using many ghost traps parallel to each other and a switch to activate all the ghost traps at once. When Egon Spangler used his trap the power failed and he locked all the GhostBuster’s equipment away. He then got killed by a weird creature which he lured in his farm to capture with his parallel ghost traps.
